Jason Gillespie saves Redbacks from first day Squashing!

Former Test paceman Jason Gillespie has continued his one man mission to keep South Australia in Pura Cup contention, rescuing the Redbacks from a first day batting humiliation against Western Australia.

With an unbeaten 51 taking his first class batting average for the season to over 70, Gillespie steered the Redbacks’ first innings to something near respectability when at one point it looked unlikely to reach three figures.

But the Redbacks 184 all out after winning the toss was still looking a measly effort, after Justin Langer and Chris Rogers raced to 0-103 at the close, with Gillespie unable to back up his batting efforts with the ball.
