Gillespie has signed a three-year contract to play in the Indian Cricket League and sighted the lesser work load as a key factor in his decision to play there rather than continuing his South Australian career.

Gillespie said he was unsure whether he would be able to fulfil his contract with English county side Glamorgan during the English summer this year.

It has been reported that the England and Wales cricket board will ban players from taking part in the County Championship if they have signed deals with ICL.
